1st edition of “Views of America ” will showcase US independent cinema in Tunis
Tunis, May 30, 2008 (TunisiaOnline) --A new film festival has seen the day in Tunis, “Views of America”, will showcase US independent cinema to Tunisian viewers.
The move which is jointly sponsored by the US Embassy in Tunis and the Los Angeles based American Film Institute (AFI), will take place on June 6 and 7, 2008 at the cinema ‘Mondial' in Tunis .
The festival will also involve Cinema schools, audiovisual training centres, and technical workshops which will take place in the presence of American filmmakers who will be invited for the event.
Alongside the festival, a competition open to the students of cinema schools, will consist of presenting a jury with a 3 minute film on any type of video support.
Ten films will be selected, and presented alongside the festival, and the three best young participants will receive an invitation to attend the New York Film Festival in October 2009.
Among the films to be shown during the two-day event are: “My Blueberry nights”, “No Sweat”, “Big dreams little Tokyo ” and “American Fork”.
