44th edition of Carthage International Festival will take place from July 11 to August 31, 2008, more than 1000 artists expected to take part
Tunis , June 20, 2008 (TunisiaOnline)--During a press point held on Friday in Tunis , the festival's artistic director, Mr Samir Belhaj Yahia, announced that some 66 shows will make up the 44 th session of the Carthage International Festival, which is due to take place from July 11 to August 31, 2008. More than 1000 artists are expected to take part in the event.
Mr Belhaj Yahia also said that these shows will take place at the Carthage Roman Theatre and at the El Abdellia Palace in La Marsa.
The lion's share of this year's edition will be dedicated to Tunisian production that will amount to 55% of all the performances. The scheduled shows will encompass several artistic genres, such as music, singing, drama, dance and cinema.
Among the Tunisian stars scheduled to take part in the show are Mohamed Jebali, Latifa Arfoui, Saber Rebai and Amina Fakhet.
Foreign performers include Majda Erroumi, Marouane Khouri, Hani Chaker, Khadem Essaher, and the Egyptian singer Angham. Other international stars include Youssou N'dour, Gerard Lenorman, and Amel Bent.
Cinema lovers will be able to view 11 films, including “La Mome” (France), “Good night and good luck” ( USA ), and “El Jazira” ( Egypt ).
Theater goers will be able to watch a performance of “Andromaque” by Jean Christophe Sais ( France ), a Tunisian adaptation of the ‘Malade imaginaire' of Moliere dubbed ‘Mwaswas' staged by Mohamed Driss, as well as ‘Khamsoun', the latest creation of Jalila Baccar and Fadhel Jaibi.
A rich and varied program, likely to please both the traditional and modern segments of the audience.
All of the performances will start at 10 pm.
