Tunisia takes part in the “Automechanika Middle East 2008” exhibition in Dubai

Tunis , June 3, 2008 (TunisiaOnline) --It is the third time Tunisia takes part in the Dubai “Automechanika Middle East” exhibition. The exhibit which started on June 1, will run till June 3, 2008 at the Dubai International Exhibition and Congress Hall.

The Tunisian pavilion which stretches over 102 square meters and groups together some 10 Tunisian companies operating in the sector of mechanic and electric industries, and automobile components such as tyres, car seats, chassis, body, cleaning products, batteries , cables etc, has so far attracted considerable attention.

Tunisia 's participation to the event, which was organized by the Tunisian Centre for the promotion of exports (CEPEX), was covered by several local media such as El Arabia, and CNBC Arabia.

Tunisia hopes to promote its exports in the automotive sector throughout the Middle East, and notably in the Gulf countries , Iran and Pakistan, an area which is witnessing an increase of more than 30% of car components imports , totalling some 1,5 billion US Dollars.

This year, a record 950 industries from 45 countries took part in the event.

-August 12, 2006- President Ben Ali reaffirms Tunisia’s commitment to the code of personal status, a pioneering legislation adopted in 1956, which has granted Tunisian women equal rights with men. The code has banned polygamy, forced marriages and repudiation.
