Tunisia to host Fifth Biennale of Arts, Mediterranean exchanges under focus

Tunis , June 3, 2008 (TunisiaOnline)--“Of Air and Wind” is the main theme of the fifth Biennale of Arts of Tunis which will be organized by the association for cultural exchanges in the Mediterranean (ECUME) in partnership with the City of Tunis . The event is due to take place from June 6 to July 12, 2008 at the Kheireddine Palace located in the Medina .

The President of ECUME, Mrs. Fatma Ben Becher noted, in a press point held in Tunis , that the theme of this Vth Biennale is in line with that of the second Biennale held in 2002 connecting together the four elements: Water, Earth, Fire and Air.

The event which will feature several forms of artistic expressions, notably painting, sculpture, video and ceramics, will witness the participation of artists from various Mediterranean towns such as Tunis , Alexandria , Athens , Beirut , Bordeaux , Gaza , Genoa , Istanbul , Lisbon , Marseilles and Venice .

On the occasion of the fifth Biennale, a concert will be held by the musical group “RANIN” at the “ Ennejma Ezzahra Palace ” in Sidi Bou Said on June 4, 2008 . The “ Ennejma Ezzahra Palace ” is also the location of the Center of Arab and Mediterranean Music.

The fifth Biennale of Arts of Tunis aims at reinforcing cultural exchange between towns from both shores of the Mediterranean , while shedding light on select aspects of centuries of shared history.
